The AAPI Joint Caucus Keynotes is a collaboration between NACE, NSA, and MPI. The AAPI Joint Caucus are Asian Pacific Islander (API) event professionals and allies who strive to improve API representation in the meetings and events industry.
Through education, advocacy and allyship, they elevate and amplify API voices and create a community to ensure visibility, inclusion and belonging. These meetings feature a top speaker with the mission to elevate and amplify.
This month, the AAPI Joint Caucus presents - Peace at Last with Jackie Wu.
From humble beginnings as an immigrant with limited English, I now stand before you, grateful for a fulfilling career, impactful business, and a life filled with purpose in America. If ever there were a term for "living death," my family and I have certainly lived through it: from enduring the aftermath of the Vietnam War under a hostile communist regime, to facing relentless persecution due to our Chinese heritage. We were forced to abandon everything—our life's work, our property—risking it all for the hope of a second chance in America, penniless and unable to speak the language. We've witnessed the best and worst of humanity.
Through this journey, I've come to realize that hard work alone is not enough. It can lead to an endless cycle of trial, error, frustration, and burnout. True success comes from knowing when to seek help—from those who have already walked the path you aspire to. This wisdom has allowed me to rebuild my life from scratch, advance to roles at prestigious institutions like Stanford University, earn top 1% Sales Professional status at Fortune 500 companies, and launch a successful business serving clients across continents—all in less than a year.
The difference between struggling and thriving lies in embracing the support of mentors, coaches, and a community that uplifts you. With their guidance, I have achieved my dreams more swiftly and with fewer setbacks, while finding the peace, happiness, and fulfillment I once thought impossible. Peace At Last!
Life is not just about survival; it's about thriving, and there is abundance for us all. Together, by sharing wisdom and supporting one another, we embody the true American spirit. Let us strive for greatness, not just for ourselves, but for each other, ensuring that we can all honor our unique heritage while fully embracing what it means to be American.
