We Don’t Waste began in 2009 with one man, a vision, and a Volvo. Noticing how much good food was going to waste, founder Arlan Preblud decided to take it upon himself to deliver the excess to local food banks. Motivated by his desire to give back to the Denver community, Arlan went from delivering trays of surplus catered food from the trunk of his Volvo to developing We Don’t Waste into the largest independent food recovery nonprofit in Colorado. Today, We Don’t Waste has distributed over 220 million servings of food, utilizes our own We Rescue app for volunteer-led food recovery, and educates thousands of students on the importance of reducing food waste in their homes and schools every year.
